Cartersville and Bartow County
In Cartersville, the courthouse clock tower has kept time for nearly a hundred years. If you’ve grown up in Bartow County, you recognize it like an old friend. Its striking profile draws your attention as you exit I-75 onto Main Street. Sandra understands why people appreciate living in Bartow County. Rich with small-town history, it seems a world away from pressure and pace of Atlanta, yet it’s just a 45-minute drive into the city. When Atlanta is wound up, towns like Cartersville offer hard-working commuters a chance to wind down.
Time moves a little more slowly in this picturesque corner of Georgia—it’s part of what keeps Sandra Howell here; she appreciates a little peace of mind, a less hectic lifestyle.
It’s a different life style, perhaps a better one. Here a minute of conversation turns strangers into acquaintances. When shopkeepers and bank tellers say “How are you?” they really want to know the answer. You’ll be glad youtook the time to get to know Bartow County.
“Bartow County is a self-sufficient, independent community not too far away from a large metro area to enjoy its assets but far enough to experience an excellent quality of life with wonderful people. I have always been proud to call Bartow County home.”
Joe Frank Harris, Former Governor of Georgia

Take a look at the Cartersville High School football sideline every Friday night and you will see more school administration, boosters, and others who only take up space. My school which has a tradition of winning has turned into a circus of “who’s who” on the sideline. The team has poor leadership, and several talented players have yet to touch the field this year. Meanwhile, the team is headed for a dismal 2 win season, after a severe beating at the hands of Carrollton. It is obvious that these transient coaches, principal and other school administration who arrived in Cartersville by way of looking for a nice community to settle in, are not aware of the history of Cartersville. They have no idea what it means when you mention the names of Lavette, Hatfield, Heard or Henderson. Many of these kids on the Cartersville team are blood relatives of these former names. They are kids with talent and ability to play if only given the chance. It is time for the people who are FROM Cartersville to step up and lead our kids and teach our kids. We have placed the trust of outsiders such as Barton. We need to begin an immediate search for a new coach now. We need to find a coach who has the best interest in our children, and will give them an opportunity.
I will be the first to go on record and say: The Cartersville Football Coach Barton HAS TO GO!!!!
